ABOUT THE WOMEN'S GUILD

The Women's Guild was started 25 years ago to offer women in Oman an opportunity for friendship through a variety of cultural and social activities. We are a small, friendly, non-profit, non-political organisation that supports local and international charities through donations. Membership is open to all women in the community of all ages and nationalities.

A busy programme of events and outings throughout the year covers a wide range of topics of general and special interest. These take place on Tuesday mornings. A general meeting is held on the first Tuesday of each month when an invited speaker will give a talk. Recent subjects have covered local history, medical matters, antique clothes and gemology. An Edwardian croquet morning, a fashion show, a craft morning, a dhow cruise and a games morning have also become regular features of our general meetings.

Outings to places of interest are always enjoyable. We have visited a perfume factory, dive centre, historic home, antique furniture showrooms, an Internet caf� and riding stables. And not to forget luncheons at local restaurants! Contact coffee mornings, also held on a Tuesday morning each month, are especially for new arrivals in Oman to help them settle in. Generally, we hold one evening meeting during the year with a guest speaker and buffet dinner. This very popular evening is open to members and their guests.

The annual membership fee is RO 2 for which members receive a membership card and monthly newsletters to keep members up-to-date with Guild activities. New members are always most welcome, and we look forward to hearing from you. Please give us a call.
